Dr. Hurst is thrilled to join the team at Owyhee Oral and Facial Surgery where he looks forward to building on the tradition of providing outstanding, personalized patient care in a friendly environment.

Dr. Hurst was raised in Dallas, Texas and completed his undergraduate studies on a full scholarship at Brigham Young University, graduating magna cum laude. He then attended dental school at Baylor College of Dentistry where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

Following dental school, Dr. Hurst obtained a medical degree from the University of Washington and a two-year certificate in General Surgery. He then completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Washington where he received extensive training in wisdom teeth removal, complex dental extractions, bone grafting, dental implant surgery, anesthesia, facial trauma, oral pathology, head and neck cancer, orthognathic surgery, and facial reconstructive surgery. During residency, he published and presented award-winning research and served as chief resident.

He and his family are excited to be in Idaho and particularly enjoy the friendliness and natural beauty found here. Outside of patient care, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons and stays active outdoors running, hiking, fishing, and backpacking.
